Since one of my New Year’s resolutions is to grow a watermelon, and that process usually starts in March, I’ve decided to give away a watermelon growing kit as this month’s prize. It’s everything you need to get your little watermelon plant up-and-running – at least until it’s time to transplant it to a larger area outside.
The kit is actually an all-in-one product called the Sprout n Grow Greenhouse (above) that allows you to grow your very own Sugar Baby watermelons. It includes watermelon seeds, a windowsill greenhouse, planting mixture, instructions and an information sheet. The green thumb is sold separately (can you buy those?) but as a What About Watermelon reader, you will have access to our panel of experts, including watermelon farmer Josh Bailey, who would be more than happy to give you some pointers if you need them.
One comment chosen at random from all the comments received here on What About Watermelon in February will win this prize. Good luck!

I love watermelon! I found this blog while I was bored last night & it was fun & entertaining. It would be fun to grow my own watermelons.
What an awesome project to do with my daughters this summer. We just love eating watermelon. My 9 year old even enters a childrens watermelon eating contest that is held on our community each summer.
I’m glad you found us Marnie. Hopefully you’ll come back often! As for the Jeannine’s idea about using watermelon growing to have some fun with the kids, I think that’s a good plan. If you don’t win this kit, you should try growing watermelons anyhow and let me know how it goes.
My grandson loves cantaloupe, but i want him to love watermelon like his grandpa. If i win, I know i can change his melon ways
Good luck, Nando! Cantaloupe is good, but nothing beats watermelon.
My dad is obsessed with watermelon–he constantly refers to it as “God’s Greatest Fruit” and “the closest thing to eating and drinking at the same time.”
The more I read about watermelons and all of the additions to this site, the more I enjoy it. Would love to make this a class project for the spring! Gives me a new theme for next year also! thank you for all the info!
This is a very cool prize. Maybe I could actually grow something that didn’t die.
I would LOVE to grow a watermelon! Best wishes for yours.
Well, I found this site a few days too late! I’m starting a raw diet and I am trying to learn how I can grow them myself.
Sorry Rhonda! But at least you’re eligible for our March prize!
