It’s July, which means two things to me. The first is that we’ve entered my absolute favorite month. It always has been, mainly because it’s the first full month of summer, which is the best season in the whole world (besides “spring in Hawaii”).
The second thing about July is that it’s National Watermelon Month. As I’ve mentioned in past years, that gives us all an excuse to eat watermelon for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Heck, you can even eat watermelon for dessert if you want to. Of course, you can do that in any month, but National Watermelon Month makes it a little easier.
To celebrate watermelon (and summer) this month, I’ll be giving away a new watermelon-themed prize each week here on the blog. Look for the first prize this Wednesday, followed by new prize entries each Wednesday after that. The prizes are inspired by some of the most popular monthly giveaways I’ve featured in the past. In other words, if you didn’t win the prize the first time I offered it, now’s your second chance!
This month, you’ll also see a few extra entries related to watermelon carving. Those entries will serve as reminders about the ongoing Watermelon Carving Contest, so keep an eye out for them. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to track down a recipe for watermelon pancakes for breakfast tomorrow.
