THE MULTI-COLORED WATERMELON (PART 2)

Earlier this month, I revealed an amazing story about some scientists and botanists in California who had figured out how to grow watermelon with interiors in just about any color you can imagine. Pretty cool, right? I mean, who wouldn’t want to chow down on a red, white and blue watermelon on July 4th?

Well, I have a small confession to make. The entire story was an April Fool’s joke cooked up by yours truly. Truth be told, I’m not much of a prankster, but I’m a little impressed by how deftly I was able to pull off the story of the rainbow watermelons. I thought for sure someone would see right though my tall tale and expose the hoax, but no one did.

Hopefully no one is too disappointed that multicolored watermelons won’t be coming to a grocery store near you any time soon, but it was all in good fun. I have to admit, even I’m a little disappointed that it’s not a real story!

  • This may go down in history as being as big a hoax as Orson Welles War of the Worlds and the Invasion from Mars. By the way, no watermelons were harmed in this hoax.

  • The multi-colored watermelon reminds me of the tie-dyed shirts of the 60′s that are back in style.

  • Hey, My Cousins grandpa grows watermelons with yellow centers, and orange centers. I am sure if he continued he could get violet. Blue, on the other hand, would be hard to make.
