Just a quick entry to wish everyone a happy St. Patrick’s Day. It’s true that 99 percent of people couldn’t tell you who St. Patrick is or why we have a day devoted to him, but that doesn’t stop people from celebrating the occasion by wearing the only piece of green clothing they own or drinking a few green beers at the local pub.
If green beer isn’t available, I recommend celebrating with a few pieces of green fruit (or at least fruit that’s green on the outside). As for which green-skinned fruit you should choose, I’ll leave that up to you.
By the way, the festive leprechaun carving on the right was created by master pumpkin and watermelon carver Hugh McMahon. I recently had the privilege of asking Mr. McMahon a few questions about his carving talent. Look for that interview in a blog entry next month!
