AND THE WINNER OF THE WHAT ABOUT WATERMELON CARVING CONTEST IS…

Maybe it’s because everyone was so busy eating their delicious watermelon or maybe everyone was just really busy with other stuff this summer, but our What About Watermelon Carving Contest netted a grand total of one entry. One!

It’s okay though. I’m not too worried about the lack of entries, because the single submission we did receive was an awesome one.

And so, it is with great pride that I name Eileen’s garden party peacock as our 2011 What About Watermelon Contest winner. Sure, she might have won by default, but even if there had been 100 entries, her peacock would probably still be a contender for the title. That’s a picture of it above.

Eileen, from Pittsburgh, PA, created the watermelon bird for her daughter’s play group. As our carving champ, Eileen wins the ultimate watermelon carving package – a John Boos maple cutting board, Kuhn Rikon melon knife, and Grasslands Road Backyard BBQ watermelon plate.

Congrats Eileen! And to all you aspiring carving contest winners who hesitated to enter this year’s competition – there’s always next year!
