\"pic\"It might be strange to talk about New Year\u2019s resolutions in October \u2014 and it kind of is \u2014 but I like to plan ahead, so here goes. My resolutions over the past three years have been mixed in terms of success. If I had to rank them on a scale of most successful to least successful, it would be as follows:<\/p>\n

1. Compete in a watermelon-eating contest<\/a> (2014)<\/p>\n

2. Compete in a watermelon seed-spitting contest<\/a> (2012)<\/p>\n

3. Grow my own watermelon<\/a> (2013)<\/p>\n

The eating contest and spitting contest were generally successful, even though I didn\u2019t win either event. Growing my own watermelon was a fun and valuable experience, but the end result (an inedible baseball-sized watermelon<\/a>) was a little disappointing.<\/p>\n

And so, I turn my attention to 2015. What will my next watermelon-related conquest be? I\u2019m not really sure. I\u2019ve got a few ideas, but I\u2019d really like your input. Leave a comment with your own thoughts on what watermelon goals I should tackle next year.<\/p>\n
