I plan to do exactly that (one recipe each month), and post the results of my efforts here on the blog.<\/p>\n<p>My first watermelon dish is Sweet and Sour Watermelon Chicken (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/Recipes\/Sweet-and-Sour-Watermelon-Chicken-150.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">check out the recipe here<\/a>). The meal is relatively simple \u2014 I didn\u2019t want to overwork myself with my first attempt \u2014 and involves a homemade sweet and sour sauce poured over some chicken and watermelon.<\/p>\n<p>How did it turn out? If anyone has any ideas for watermelon recipes that you\u2019d like me to try out in next month\u2019s New Year\u2019s Resolution update, leave a comment!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic22.jpg\" alt=\"pic\" width=\"294\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The star of this recipe is the diced watermelon, which can be mixed in with the sweet and sour sauce or just sprinkled on top of the dish.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5253\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic23.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 294px) 100vw, 294px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic23-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic23.jpg 392w\" alt=\"pic\" width=\"294\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After you saut\u00e9 one onion and one red pepper, you\u2019ll add your sweet and sour sauce. I actually couldn\u2019t find sweet and sour sauce, so I used General Tso\u2019s sauce. It\u2019s almost the same thing, but just a little spicier.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5256\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic24.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 294px) 100vw, 294px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic24-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic24.jpg 392w\" alt=\"pic\" width=\"294\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The chicken tenders are the blank canvas for this dish. You can buy your own chicken tenders in the raw, uncooked chicken and bread them to make your own, or you can buy frozen tenders. I bought the frozen kind. If you buy frozen tenders, get ones that aren\u2019t heavily flavored with a lot of crispy breading. You don\u2019t want that flavor to interfere with the watermelon and sweet and sour sauce that you\u2019ll be adding later.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5258\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/pic25.jpg\" alt=\"pic\" width=\"294\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After your tenders are cooked, top them with your sweet and sour sauce and throw some diced watermelon on there. You can even add some toasted sesame seeds, like I did. You don\u2019t have to add the sesame seeds, but I highly recommend it.
