When I found this recipe for \u201cwatermelon jelly,\u201d I was excited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches,\u201d I thought to myself, \u201cI\u2019ve never made jelly and I\u2019ve definitely never had watermelon jelly, so this will be great!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But then, about half way through the process of making this jelly, I realized that it wasn\u2019t the kind of jelly that you might spread on a PBJ sandwich or a toasted bagel. Turns out, the \u201cjelly\u201d I was making was actually another type of gelatin. One that starts with \u201cjell\u201d and ends with an \u201cO\u201d. I can\u2019t say the brand name here, and neither could the person who posted this recipe.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s how I can to make watermelon jelly that\u2019s not actually jelly, but it\u2019s still pretty good. Check out the process below to see how I made it, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realsimple.com\/food-recipes\/browse-all-recipes\/watermelon-jelly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">check out the recipe here<\/a> to make your own.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.whataboutwatermelon.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/photo-1-4.jpg\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">The ingredients in this jelly are pretty simple: just watermelon (which you\u2019ll turn into 3 cups of juice), unflavored gelatin, lemon juice and sugar. That\u2019s it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To make the three cups of watermelon juice that will serve as the base of the jelly, you\u2019ll need to carve your watermelon into chunks. Yes, I bought a watermelon with seeds and, no, I didn\u2019t mean to. If you do the same, don\u2019t worry\u2026the seeds will be ground up in your food processor (or blender), but they\u2019ll be filtered out later.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The next step, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realsimple.com\/food-recipes\/browse-all-recipes\/watermelon-jelly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">original recipe<\/a>, is to puree your watermelon chunks a food processor before filtering the blended result through a fine sieve like the one above. I didn\u2019t have a food processor, so I used my blender, and it worked just as well. (TIP: Your sieve will probably get clogged up with watermelon pulp, so you\u2019ll need to rinse it off in the sink a few times while you make your three cups of juice.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After you\u2019ve got your juice, you\u2019ll add three packets of unflavored gelatin to one cup of the juice and place the other two cups of juice in a sauce pan on the stove with some sugar. After the sugar has melted, stir in the lemon juice and the watermelon juice with the gelatin in it, and then pour the entire mixture into a square pan. Place the pan in the fridge for about six hours to allow the gelatin to work its magic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The next morning (actually <em>this <\/em>morning), my watermelon \u201cjelly\u201d was complete!
