Actually, you don\u2019t even have to be a teacher to use them. They\u2019d also be great for parents to print out and do at home with their children during the summer. (Learning during the summer? Aww, c\u2019mon!)<\/p>\n<p>The lessons are broken down into three grade categories \u2013 Grades 1-2, Grades 3-4, and Grades 5-6 \u2013 and feature lessons in <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/educators-lessons-arts.asp\">language arts<\/span>, <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/educators-lessons-math.asp\">math<\/span>, <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/educators-lessons-geo.asp\">geography<\/span>, and <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/educators-lessons-science.asp\">science<\/span>. There are even some fun kid-focused <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/educators-lessons-recipes.asp\">recipes<\/span> on there, which would be good for parents to do at home with their kids. There\u2019s also a place where teachers can <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/educators-teachertools.asp\">enter some information<\/span> to receive a CD containing the complete teachers\u2019 tool kit.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not a teacher, but I have had plenty of experience as a student, and this is something I definitely would have enjoyed in grade school, especially if my teacher had found a way to work in some of the <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.watermelon.org\/kids_games.asp\">games and activities<\/span> also found on the website\u2026 and brought in some watermelon to sample during the lesson, of course.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of people don\u2019t realize this, but the National Watermelon Promotion Board\u2019s website (www.watermelon.org \u2026 pretty easy to remember) is home to some really helpful tool kits for teachers, which use watermelon as a basis for all sorts of fun activities and lessons.
