Last year, in the weeks before \u201cthe big football game\u201d (trademark issues prevent me from using the official \u201csuper\u201d name), I posted a series of dishes here on What About Watermelon that you might choose to whip up to add some watermelon flavor to your party. Long story short, I\u2019m doing the same thing this year.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll kick off our recipe series (a new recipe each Sunday) with an easy one. And yes, I chose this recipe mainly because it\u2019s simple to make and versatile. Feel free to add all sorts of goodies to the mix.<\/p>\n

WATERMELON SALSA BOWL<\/h3>\n

MATERIALS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 Round, seedless watermelon
\nDry-erase marker
\nUtility knife or carving knife
\nIce cream scoop or other large spoon
\nFire & Ice Salsa (recipe here)
\nFor garnish: chips, jalapenos, cilantro and lime<\/p>\n

INSTRUCTIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Choose a round, seedless watermelon.<\/p>\n

2. Wash the watermelon and pat dry.<\/p>\n

3. Use a dry-erase marker to trace the design around the middle of the watermelon.<\/p>\n

4. Use a utility knife to carve the design (feel free to copy design in photo).<\/p>\n

5. Split watermelon in half, and use a scoop to carve out flesh.<\/p>\n

7. Fill bowl with Fire & Ice salsa<\/p>\n
