Wally Amos<\/a> is best known for his world famous line of \u201cFamous Amos<\/a>\u201d cookies, but he\u2019s also an outspoken lover of watermelon. He\u2019s often seen wearing watermelon printed clothes and he\u2019s approached the National Watermelon Promotion Board about helping to get the word out about the joys of watermelon. (He may even appear as a guest blogger here on What About Watermelon in the future!)<\/p>\n

In addition to being a successful entrepreneur (and a full-time resident of Hawaii), Wally has found time to write 13 books. Many of them are inspirational self-help books, including one titled \u201cWatermelon Magic: Seeds of Wisdom, Slices of Life.\u201d The book uses watermelon as a metaphor for life.<\/p>\n

According to the book\u2019s page on Amazon.com<\/a>, \u201cWatermelons symbolize the slurpy happiness of life for Wally Amos. From his life experiences, Wally sees many parallels between humans and watermelons. Just as the vine connects watermelons and the umbilical cord connects mother and child, we are all connected by spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

I really liked the book, and I\u2019m not just saying that because I love watermelon.
