Last week, I talked about miniature watermelons (those weighing less than 10 pounds). This week, we\u2019re shifting gears to giant watermelons, and no one knows more about giant watermelons than Lloyd Bright.<\/p>\n

In 1979, the Bright family grew a then world record 200-pound watermelon on their farm in Hope, Arkansas. Six years later, they produced a behemoth weighing in at 260 pounds! Then, on September 3, 2005, the Brights picked the biggest of them all, a 268.8-pound monster that was officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.<\/p>\n

Below is a video of the world record holder being picked. The first giant watermelon in this video was dropped (try not to cry like I did when it happens), but the second was picked without incident.<\/p>\n
