Watermelon Cranberry Sauce

This Watermelon Cranberry Sauce switches the holiday classic up a bit. I’m using fresh cranberries and watermelon sweetened with sugar. Vanilla extract, maple syrup and a lemon round out the flavors. A dash of cinnamon brings it all together. Let me show you how to make this!

How to make the Watermelon Cranberry Sauce

The cranberries take a bit of preparation, so you’ll want to add the sugar, vanilla, lemon juice and zest to a skillet over medium low heat until it simmers. Continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries are tender. This should take about 20 minutes.

Reduce the heat and add maple syrup.

Add a sprinkling of cinnamon. Cook on low for just another few minutes to bring the flavors together. Remove from the heat.

Allow the cranberry mixture to cool for about 10 minutes, then add the watermelon and vanilla extract.

I like to serve this cold, but you could also serve warm. It’s really delicious! I hope you give it a try.

Adding watermelon is a great way to switch up that old holiday classic. I think you’re guests will love it!
