In my last entry about my New Year’s resolution (organizing and participating in a watermelon seed-spitting contest this year), I suggested two potential venues for the contest: the Pennsylvania Farm Show (a massive event held each January in Harrisburg, PA) and the Cumberland Ag Expo (a smaller event held here in central Pennsylvania in August).
I decided that the Cumberland Ag Expo is the best option of the two and reached out to the event organizers to pitch my idea to them. The organizers like the idea of adding a seed-spitting contest to the schedule, but they aren’t able to give me an official yes or no until after their April 12 planning meeting.
I’m hopeful that they’ll agree to host the contest and make my dream of showing off my seed-spitting skills a reality. Stay tuned!
