My wife mentioned the other day that we needed a new doormat outside our front door. Ours has worn to the point that the middle part of the world “WELCOME!” has completely disappeared, leaving only “WE…E!” to greet visitors. I guess “Wee!” isn’t so bad, though, considering every day in our house is truly an adventure.
If I had my way, I’d buy the watermelon doormat pictured above. But I don’t have my way, so I’ll have to live vicariously through my readers by giving the doormat away as this month’s prize.
I believe a doormat should reflect the passions and personality of the people inside the home. A doormat also says a lot about the home’s residents and, as a visitor, those kind of clues are important. For example, the doormat we had before our current “Wee!” doormat said “Wipe Your Paws.” That tells people that we have a dog that can read.
A watermelon doormat says to visitors, “Hey there! I’m a juicy slice of watermelon! The owners of this home enjoy me and have a zest for life and all the crazy, unpredictable things that come with it! They also have great taste in produce and enjoy refreshing and healthy snacks loaded with vitamin A, vitamin C, and lycopene! By the way, I like your shoes! Are those suede? Go ahead and knock, I’m pretty sure they’re home! Have a great day!”
It’ll say something like that, at least. I’ll choose one comment from all the comments left on the blog this month to receive this very welcoming prize. Good luck!

I desperately need a new doormat, and I happen to love watermelon!
Will look great at our home & so fitting for us since we farm watermelons in Florida!!
How cute would it be to have a watermelon door mat that said all that to my guests. It is true, I do love watermelon!

Pick me! I love watermelon!!
I am in LOVE with this doormat!!! I am a newlywed since May of this year and my husband (who is actually a watermelon grower!!) are in the process of building our new home together. We plan to move in by October and this doormat would be a PERFECT slice to add to our new home
I have loved watermelon since I was a little girl with everything from three pair of earrings and chap stick to pot holders and flip flops. This would be fantastic to have for my dorm room at college this fall!!
I nominate my mom for this eye-catching prize. My mom is a petite woman. You will often find her taking smallest portion size meals and snacks at home and social gatherings. But, it’s different story when she meets her buddy, watermelon. The same woman can finish a half watermelon by herself as a light snack. The featured doormat could be happily living in front of her door.
We grow watermelons SO it just seemed natural for the kitchen to have a watermelon theme. In Indiana 40 years ago there was not much demand for such items which forced me to design and make everything. Let me tell you the watermelon door mat was the most difficult and to this day the biggest challenge. I want and need your doormat. Have a melonious day!
