Yesterday, I featured three gifts for the watermelon lover in your life. Today, I’ll feature three more. The watermelon lovers in my life are the readers of this blog, which is why I’m giving away one of those six gifts as this month’s prize to one commenter chosen at random (take your pick of prizes).
Unlike Monday’s options, today’s trio of gifts are all edible. That’s a good thing, too, because the best thing about a watermelon isn’t how it looks or smells, but how it tastes. I gotta admit, if I had to choose between these six prizes, I’m really not sure which one I’d pick. Which one would you choose?
SWEET PICKLED WATERMELON RIND ($12.95 on Amazon.com) – I’ve talked in the past about the joys of pickled watermelon rind, and although I’ve never had it, I might choose this gift just to satisfy my curiosity. This gift includes three 10-ounce jars of “tangy, delectable” rind. The Amazon description notes that the rind can be “cubed and wrapped in bacon for a sumptuous hors d’oeurves. Wrapped in bacon?! Now you’re talkin’!
ROASTED WATERMELON SEEDS ($15.30 on Amazon.com) – If you’ve never had roasted watermelon seeds, you’re really missing out because they’re awesome. This gift includes six 7-ounce bags of salted, roasted watermelon seeds. Amazon reviewer Jon Q gives the seeds “five stars for yumminess,” which is why I might give this gift some serious consideration if I found myself choosing between this month’s presents.
PURE WATERMELON EXTRACT ($8.50 on Amazon.com) – Remember when I said the best thing about watermelon is how it tastes? Watermelon extract takes that taste and boils it down into one four-ounce bottle of deliciousness. Like the description of this item notes, that little bottle offers “fresh, ripe watermelon flavor” that can be tossed in fruit salad, added to smoothies, and included in just about any recipe. I might mix it with some vanilla ice cream, but that’s just me.
I would love to try roasted watermelon seeds. I bet watermelon extract could also be used in beauty product recipes!
Let’s go with those prizes !!!
I think the watermelon seeds would be nice to snack on, but the watermelon extract could be soo yummy while cooking. I wouldn’t know what to choose out of those 2.
These gifts look good. I’ve heard of Watermelon Rinds but not Watermelon Kernels or Extract. I’d like to try all of them.
Watermelon Pickles is what my Grandma use to make. They are delicious! I would like to try the Watermelon Kernels and the extract would be awesome.
HMMMMM? Decisions Decisions
Cool items, I think my first choice would be the watermelon seeds. I have done pumpkin seeds and they are good. Pickled watermelon is awesome and hard to find. And the extract in smoothies or tropical drinks would be different also. Where do you find these things? Keep em coming.
Watermelon cake with watermelon extract. So yummy.
The winner of the December prize is Jim! Congrats to Jim and thanks to everyone for commenting!
